Dorival Caymmi must have smiled 'many' times in his heart to hear his son Dori perform so beautifully. He had to be proud of all three of his gifted children. Dori's voice and style always lifts me to the clouds and carries me on a wave of romance.
"Extreme satisfaction" only touches the surface of what I experience in hearing the voice and guitar of this man. It takes me on a journey within myself that can only be described as the epitome of pleasure. Oh but that I could coin a word or phrase to describe it. It's almost pain inducing that I can't.
To try is to try though. I 'have' to do 'something'!
That's how good it is. I'm filled with chillbumps and this ribbon-type wave rides my senses and caresses what feels like 'new' nerve endings. I almost can't take it, but correspondingly can't let it go.
I was listening to the little Yahoo Radio thingy one fine day last year when "Brasil (Aquarela do Brasil) came on. I was 'immediately' arrested by the sound of Dori's voice and hurriedly jotted the title down. Of course I made due haste to Barnes and Noble where I purchase my music--but they didn't have it..drats!
I searched and searched and searched, only able to find a few pieces on a couple of music sites--but it's not the same as having the music in your possession--it's just not.
Today is a special day for me, because I have just acquired my beloved Dori Caymmi all for myself (finally)..and as Daddy used to say, "for my senses to enjoy"...and ohhhhhh am I enjoying this to the fullest sense imaginable. It's like drops of golden, liquid, ethereal, love induced, pure------pleasure.
This---is what I need, what I've longed for, what my dreams are made of...
the music of Dori Caymmi.
